Poetry Reading and Workshop

Text says April is Poetry Month. Photo of poet.

April is National Poetry Month. We’re offering these programs to inspire, challenge, and connect through poetry:

Journeying On: A Poetry Reading with Ramya Ramana (In-Person)
Saturday, April 5 (2:00 – 3:00 p.m.)
Author and poet, Ramya Ramana will read poems that span across a decade. Through both older and newer pieces, poems of grief, poems of love, poems of justice and poems of faith, Ramana will invite us into the journey of being formed and thus, transformed. The reading will end with a Q&A. This program is open to all Adults and Teens (both residents and nonresidents). Click here to register now.

Poems of Arrival (In-Person)
Tuesday, April 8 (7:00 – 8:30 p.m.)
Join author and poet Ramya Ramana for this guided workshop, exploring the question: How do we arrive, with language, towards a place of safety, surrender; a home? Through this generative writing prompt, we will investigate themes of returning and arrival. We will read and discuss poets like Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry and others. This will be a safe space for writers of all levels to engage and leave with a poem-home of their very own. This program is open to all Adults (both residents and nonresidents). Click here to register now.

Ramya Ramana is an award-winning American author, poet and lyricist, including the winner of the Youth Poet Laureate of New York City.
