Free Access to NY State Parks and Beaches
The New York State Empire Pass brings free entry to most NY state parks. No need to pay for the pass – library cardholders may borrow it from us!
This pass allows for free admission for one vehicle to any New York State park. Empire Passes are part of our Museum Pass Lending Program ― the loan period is seven days (choose the dates you want to use it!). Reserve the pass for the desired pickup date. Enjoy time at the park – hike, swim, play, and learn through new experiences! Then simply return the pass by its due date (an hour before Library closing). The pass is due 7 days after the reserved pickup date. Click here for more details and information on how to reserve a pass.
The New York State Empire Pass may be used at over 100 parks – including beaches, trails, and more – throughout the entire state. On Long Island alone, there are 27 parks that accept the pass, including Bethpage State Park, Brookhaven State Park, Caleb Smith State Park Preserve, Captree State Park, Heckscher State Park, Jones Beach State Park, Montauk Point State Park, Nissequogue River State Park, Robert Moses State Park, Sunken Meadow State Park, and many others (for a full listing of the parks that accept the pass, visit parks.ny.gov/parks/).
We’re proud to offer this ticket to the great outdoors. Get moving and get exploring, thanks to your library card!
Please note: The Empire Pass Card is a day-use vehicle entry to most facilities operated by New York State Parks and the State Department of Environmental Conservation including forests, beaches, trails and more. It is usable for all motor vehicles except those used in the business of transporting passengers for hire including public or private buses, shuttles, taxis, limousines, or other livery vehicles. It does not guarantee free vehicle entry into the park when special events occur and are operated by other organizations. It excludes camping, overnight parking, golf, museum or historic site admission and other special activity fees.
