Drop-In Events & Activities for Kids

Looking for something to do with the kids this summer? Stop by the Library for these events and activities from our Children’s Department. No registration is required.
For outdoor events: 1) Please bring a blanket for seating. 2) In the case of inclement weather, please call Emma Clark Library ahead of time: 631.941.4080.
Thursday, June 27
Summer Reading Kick-Off Event, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
Join us for some carnival fun on the Library’s front lawn. We’ll have face painting, balloon animals, carnival games, & music. Swing by anytime between 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Friday, June 28
Adventure of the Lost Treasure, 11:00–11:45 a.m. Grades K–6
A treasure-hunting adventure show full of stories & science experiments with Talewise on the Library’s front lawn.
Saturday, June 29
Crafternoon, 2:00–4:00 p.m. Ages 3–12 yrs. w/ parent or caregiver
Stop by to get creative with recycled materials.
Tuesday, July 9
Giant Game & Big Voice Day, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
Try your hand at Giant Connect 4, sing karaoke, & spin the prize wheel! On the Library lawn. Update: This event has been moved indoors due to the heat.
Friday, July 12
Meet the Farm Animals, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Grades Pre-K– 6
Stop by during these hours and have fun with some hands-on interaction with animals. Presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension on the Library’s front lawn. Update: Due to the weather forecast, this event is rescheduled to Monday, August 12 from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
The History of Balloons, 6:30–7:30 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
A night full of laughs & balloon sculptures with Nick the Balloonatic.
Monday, July 15
Turtle Dance Music with Mr. Matt, 2:00-2:45 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
Music, dance, and comedy show! On the Library’s front lawn. Update: This event has been moved indoors due to the heat.
Friday, July 19
Magic of Amore, 6:30–7:30 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
Fast paced and original, this one-of-a-kind performance utilizes, magic, illusion, comedy, music, and audience participation! On the Library’s front lawn.
Saturday, July 27
Star Wars Day, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
Enjoy carnival games with a Star Wars twist and enter our raffle contest. Children are welcome to wear a Star Wars or space-themed costume, but not necessary.
Tuesday, July 30
Celebrate Harry Potter’s Birthday! 2:00–4:00 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
By patron request, drop by to celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday with themed activities.
Wednesday, July 31
Touch-a-Truck, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. For families with children up to Grade 6
Drop by the Library to check out vehicles from different community organizations!
Tuesday, August 6

Perler Palooza!, 2:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. Grades K–6 w/ parent or caregiver (Grades K – 2 will likely require assistance)
Children are welcome to stop by to make a Perler bead creation of your choice. Whether they’d like to work from a template or use their imagination, each child will leave with their own work of art! Most projects will take between 40-60 minutes.
