Since the databases below are all subscription services funded by your tax dollars, you will need to enter them through the library website (www.emmaclark.org) and select “Search Online Databases.” After you select a database, provide member verification by entering the number on the back of your library card.  

Literature Resource Center
Author biographies, list of works, and literary criticism

MagillOnLiteraturePlus
Concise information covering authors, works, book reviews, characters, literary settings and plot.

Novelist
Includes selected book discussion guides, international book awards, and recommended reads by genre and by topic under the fiction heading.

New York Times Historical(1851-2004) or New York Times(1980-present)
Index and full text articles. The historical database provides a digitized full text of the newspaper, including includes ads and illustrations.
-- From the database list on the left, select Newspapers, and then whichever database covers the date of publication of the book.

Masterfile Premier
Provides complete articles from magazines and reference books.
-- From the database list on the left, select Magazines, then Masterfile Premier.

Biographies Plus Illustrated
A source to check for well-known authors. Includes biographies, obituaries, and photographs of famous people in all fields.
